Hello, lovely readers. And Happy Friday! I’m writing this post to let you know that exciting things are happening at C&M…we’re getting a makeover! Well, the blog is, not me. I’m not really a tech kind of person (Case in point: I still have not updated my iPhone software…which was released in September!) so bear with me as I do my best to improve the look of this blog of mine. If all goes according to plan, things will be up and running in no time.
In the meantime, I wanted to leave you with a link to some really beautiful food art of maps from around the world. I love this idea of turning food into art. In fact, that’s how I think of the food photography that I put forth here week to week. But in this instance, artists Caitlin and Henry have put together something truly unique by using food as a medium to connect travel and art. The result is stunning. So much so that I wish I could hang one of their beautiful pieces in my own home! (Even if it were only for a few days before the ingredients spoiled.) What is more, the two artists really hone in on what I think is the underlying connection between all of us who love food and travel when they said: “The project speaks to the universality of how food unites people.” In my various travels around the globe and my research as a sociologist, where my time is often spent getting to know people to their core, I have to say that I could not agree more. There is perhaps no other medium that connects people in such an intimate way, regardless of language, age, race, religion, sexuality, gender, etc, than food.
